The band Claire's Flower Shop has been growing much since it was formed early 2002. It was formed when Jenn and Liang decided to experiment with some of the songs they wrote. Many ask why the band was named "Claire's Flower Shop"...
The name "Claire's Flower Shop" was taken from Liang's previous band, the name was conceived when Liang and his cousin, Jared, were trying to name their band. After the old Claire's Flower Shop disbanded, Liang formed a new band with his church mates and the new band needed a name! The name "Claire's Flower Shop" seemed appropriate for the newly formed band because the songs that the band first jammed were somewhat on the melancholic side.

The sound of Claire's Flower Shop would best be described as indie-rock as the band's songs are not restricted to a particular genre. Songwriters of the band, Jenn and Liang have many musical influences. A few of Jenn's favourite bands are Sunny Day Real Estate, Stavesacre and Galactic Cowboys; these few bands do no justice to Jenn's love for all kinds of music. Liang, like Jenn, loves all kinds of music, he listens to genres from classical to hardcore, a few of his favourite bands include Sunny Day Real Estate, U2 and Thursday. These bands mentioned are only a handful of the stuff they listen to, both songwriters would probably give a never-ending list if asked for the stuff they listen to.
